The two new screen shoots of 18 WHEELS OF STEEL, only in TruckPol, courtesy of Pavel Sebor (SCS Software).
He wrote: Please understand that these are not normal in-game shots. I have a developer build of the engine available where I can freely manipulate with the position of the camera, so I have taken a look at interesting places in the maps from an angle from which the players will not normally be able to see them. They will be able to drive through those locations of course, but will not see them from this particular bird-eye perspective
One of the screen shots shows is a crossing in a city near a place where construction work is about to start (it seems, at least by the presence of the machinery and piles of material). The other is a view of one of the loading docks in the game - places where you pick up the cargo od deliver the cargo to. The bridge in the distance is not just a decoration, you can normally drive across it to the other side of the bay.

There is the official piece of information about release Hard Truck 18 Wheels of Steel at ValuSoft site. There is a short review: 'Be your own boss behind the wheel of your big rig. Bid on jobs, then hit the road to deliver faster than the competition. Road hazards, low fuel and even the police can affect the timeliness and condition of your deliveries—and impact your bottom line. It's all in a day's work when you're driving the big rigs.

 July 15th, 2002

I am still on vacation, so only short news I will place here (thanks to Daniel for information). Hard Truck - 18 Wheels of Steel (18WoS) is being developed by SCS Software and pictures of this game you can find here or there. Tom Shiflet (Sunstorm Producer) wrote that 18WoS is a truck driving game that lets you strike out on your own hit the open road with your rig. You'll compete against time, traffic, weather... and maybe even the state troopers if you break the speed limit! The game is currently in the very early beta stages, but its coming along nicely and should be ready for release in late summer or early fall. There are 3 huge maps that let you haul cargo along the West Coast, the Rocky Mountains or the Midwest in any of 6 different trucks. In addition to hauling your cargo, you must manage your business well by winning recurring contracts, hiring drivers to haul loads for you, and managing your own overhead. This game is definitely about business... the business of trucking! More at Sunstorm Forum here.
